Will Davison celebrates back-to-back pole positions with FPR team-mates Reynolds and Winterbottom

Ford Performance Racing, led by yesterday’s pole-sitter Will Davison, has led an emphatic 1-2-3 in qualifying for the second and final race of this year’s V8 Supercars SkyCity Triple Crown round at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway.

Davison, who lost his championship lead to TeamVodafone rival Jamie Whincup after yesterday’s opening race (won by Whincup), claimed pole position for today’s 200-kilometre race in the closing minutes of play, edging out team-mates Mark Winterbottom and David Reynolds for top honours.

Incredibly, the next-best-placed Ford runner would be Shane van Gisbergen in thirteenth place, as the Holden runners claimed positions four through twelve.

Whincup ended the session fourth-fastest in his TeamVodafone Holden, two spots ahead of team-mate Craig Lowndes.

The pair sandwiched Gary Rogers Motorsport Holden driver Michael Caruso, who enjoyed the best qualifying performance of his season, while his rookie team-mate Alexandre Prémat did likewise, finishing twelfth-fastest in the day’s twenty-minute qualifying session.

It was a similar story for the two Tekno Autosport runners, with Jonathon Webb lining up seventh-fastest, while team-mate Michael Patrizi was tenth. The pair sandwiched the Brad Jones Racing pair of Fabian Coulthard and Jason Bright.

Today’s 69-lap race gets underway at 3:00pm local time.
