Sebastian Vettel has continued his domination of the Indian Grand Prix weekend

Sebastian Vettel will enjoy unbackable odds to claim pole position in today’s qualifying session for the Indian Grand Prix, after the German dominated proceedings in Saturday’s final practice session.

After the start of the session was delayed due to the persistent haze that has blanketed the circuit, Vettel quickly got down to business and delivered a rapid lap time of 1:25.332, some half a second faster than teammate Mark Webber, who was once again second-quickest.

Fernando Alonso was third fastest, having set the early pace before Vettel toppled the lot of them, while Nico Hülkenberg was an impressive fourth-fastest in his Sauber. The German created a scare in the pit lane during the session, knocking over one of his mechanics when he pulled into the pits.

Romain Grosjean led Lotus’ charge with the fifth-fastest time, with Felipe Massa, Paul di Resta, Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton completing the top-ten.

Kimi Räikkönen was eleventh-fastest in the second Lotus, ahead of Pastor Maldonado and Sergio Pérez in their respective Williams and McLaren entries.

The session featured little in the way of incident, although Esteban Gutiérrez provided one notable highlight when he got it badly wrong through one of the switchback corners, launching his Sauber over the kerbs and getting briefly airborne before landing heavily back on the track.

Qualifying gets underway at 2:00pm local time (GMT +5:30).
