Stéphane Richelmi has held off the threat of Sergio Canamasas to make it a perfect weekend for DAMS Racing in Monaco.

Richelmi led from start to finish in the 30 lap sprint race, where most of the field struggled to find grip with their tyres.

Rio Haryanto claimed the final podium spot

Rio Haryanto turned around Caterham’s poor fortune by taking his first podium in his GP2 career.

The tale of two races saw Richelmi and Canamasas sprint away into the distance leaving the rest of the field to battle amongst themselves.

Johnny Cecotto had trouble with his tyres early and ended up leading a train of 17 cars to the finish line.

Arthur Pic, Mitch Evans and Jolyon Palmer were reluctant passengers behind Cecotto, who made it impossible for Pic to attempt to pass the struggling Venezuelan.

The race wasn’t without a visit from the safety car however, as Artem Markelov braked too late heading into Sainte Devote and collided with the barriers.

Other retirees from the race included Felipe Nasr who copped a front left puncture on the opening lap and went off the circuit, Takuya Izawa suffered a front left brake failure and Daniël de Jong was nudged into the barriers at the hairpin by Raffaele Marciello.

Marciello was handed a drive through penalty for causing the collision.

ART suffered another poor weekend with Izawa retirement and McLaren protégé Stoffel Vandoorne finishing down the order again in thirteenth.
