David Wall has, as expected, been announced as Robert Dahlgren’s replacement to drive the #34 Volvo Polestar Racing entry in next year’s V8 Supercars Championship.

The former two-time Australian GT Championship winner raced for Dick Johnson Racing this year, claiming a best finish of fifth en route to currently lying 21st overall in the Drivers’ Championship standings. The 31-year-old follows DJR’s former title sponsor – and long-time personal backer – Wilson Security in its move as the factory Volvo outfit’s new title sponsor.

“I cannot begin to tell you how eager I am to join Volvo Polestar Racing for the 2015 V8 Supercars season. I am really impressed with how they came out of the box this year in what was a stellar debut season for the team,” Wall said of his signing.

“I spent some time racing alongside David’s dad, Des. If David shows the same tenacity and determination his father exhibited I’m sure he will have success at GRM. Obviously it’s a challenge for David and our team, but I take notice of all drivers in the V8 Supercars Championship and David has shown ability. I am confident we will provide him with a car that will enable him to illustrate his potential,” Volvo Polestar Racing team boss Garry Rogers added.

The departure of Swedish import Dahlgren was announced last week. The multiple Scandinavian touring car champion will return to his homeland to join Volvo and Polestar on other assignments, one of which is believed to be Polestar’s rumoured return to the FIA World Touring Car Championship.
