David Reynolds has repeated his Friday practice form by claiming pole position for Sunday’s feature race in the V8 Supercars’ hit-out at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway.

The Bottle-O Racing driver clocked a new lap record en route to claiming his first pole position of the season, edging out Fabian Coulthard’s Holden by just over one-tenth of a second in the final moments of the twenty-minute qualifying session.

Interestingly, Reynolds was the only driver to go quicker than his provisional time when the field switched to new rubber for their final flying runs. What was perhaps more impressive was that his lap time – posted on the Hard Dunlop tyre compound – was even quicker than the Race 14 pole-winning effort from Ricky Kelly on Softs the day before.

The second row of the grid was claimed by Shane van Gisbergen and Race 13 winner Chaz Mostert, while Dale Wood delivered the biggest surprise of the session by going fifth-fastest in his Brad Jones Racing Holden.

Mark Winterbottom, James Courtney, Nick Percat, Jason Bright and Andre Heimgartner completed the top ten.

It was a poor qualifying session for the Red Bull Racing stable once again; Race 14 winner Craig Lowndes was fifteenth-fastest, three spots behind teammate and reigning champion Jamie Whincup.

It was an even worse story for HRT’s Garth Tander, whose horror weekend continued with an uninspiring 23rd-fastest effort.

Sunday’s 70-lap feature race starts at 13:45 local time (GMT +9:30).
