DJR Team Penske will sport another new livery scheme – and arguably its best to-date – at this weekend’s V8 Supercars Championship event at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The one-car outfit will adorn its Ford Falcon FG X in the colours of MAN Truck & Bus, marking the latest iteration in its rolling sponsorship model. MAN will be third Penske-affiliated company to have primary sponsorship of the #17 car, following MTU and the Würth Group / Western Star. The team has also run in Shell colours at selected events.
“MAN Trucks is the brand of choice for the team and the graphics and design of the car will deliver a very impactful look on track,” DJR Team Penske managing director Ryan Story said.
“The response to our livery changes from the fans and customers has been fantastic this year and I’m sure the MAN livery will create a lot of interest in Sydney. This has become an important part of our team’s marketing strategy.”
Team co-owner Roger Penske has owned MAN – along with fellow Australian trucking and shipping companies Western Star and Dennis Eagle – since mid-2013, preceding ‘The Captain’ moving into the V8 Supercars Championship when he bought a majority shareholding of Dick Johnson Racing.
The team’s former lead driver Marcos Ambrose will be back behind the wheel in Friday practice, before handing over to regular driver Scott Pye.
Pye will head into this weekend’s three-race round at Sydney Motorsport Park hoping to carry over the form that has seen him claim five top-ten finishes in the last nine races.
