Despite some seemingly iron-clad contracts, this certainly has done nothing to quell some particularly imaginative driver market rumours doing the rounds. The latest offerings suggest that either Mark Webber or Robert Kubica will move to Ferrari, and Felipe Massa will be shuffled to Sauber for the 2011 season.
All three drivers have contracts with their current teams for the 2011 season, and each was quick to dismiss the latest speculation as to there whereabouts next year.
“I have a contract with Red Bull and I’m a man of honour,” Webber told Finland’s Turun Sanomat. “I’d be very surprised if I’m not here next year.
“Moving to another team is something I’m not interested in. It doesn’t seem to make sense to go and learn to work with another 500 people,” he added.
When asked if he would possibly relish having Fernando Alonso as a team-mate, Webber quipped: “I doubt he is coming to Red Bull!”
Felipe Massa was again on the offensive about the suggestions that his position at Ferrari was under threat.
“Every year we talk about who is going to replace me; I’m used to it,” El Periodico has quoted him as saying. “It has been Rossi, Kubica, Vettel, Alonso! I have signed a contract renewal for two seasons so this kind of thing makes me laugh.”
And Kubica – who is seemingly intent on staying with Renault for a little while yet – added: “I don’t know where [the rumours] come from. All I can say is that I am with Renault.”
