In just ten days time, Bernie Ecclestone will be celebrating his 80th birthday.
But the ever-present F1 supremo has been quick to suggest that him entering his ninth decade certainly won’t mean he’ll be taking it easy.
“If I stop working, I cannot solve problems any more,” he told Bild am Sonntag. “If I’m not solving problems, that’s the beginning of the end. So I work. And I like to work.”
Adding that he equated retirement to death, Bernie was asked how the F1 teams should identify his successor, he replied: “I have no idea. They should probably look out for another used car dealer!”
