Team boss Peter Sauber has criticised the “unsporting” behaviour of members from the McLaren and Ferrari pit crews during Sunday’s Korean Grand Prix.
The Swiss team’s founder said he was disappointed to see rival team members celebrating when Red Bull’s Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel retired during the race, handing better finishing positions to Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.
Both squads boosted their championship prospects with the retirement of the Red Bull cars – the team’s first non-scoring race in 22 outings – but after seeing their celebrations (which were broadcast via the world feed), he told the Blick newspaper: “They were scenes that didn’t please me at all. Very unsporting.”
