With just one round to go, the Tipping Competition is set to come to an end, and there’s still plenty to play for the field closes right up as we head to Abu Dhabi this weekend.
And good heavens, I won the last round of tipping and picked up 9 points to move up the leaderboard, and I can guarantee you that no one picked ‘The Hulk’ to get pole!
I can also reveal the details of the prize that the competition will receive (read on)…
Our Tipping Competition Leaderboard looks like this after eighteen rounds of the Formula 1 championship season:
Julian::MUFC holds a slender 4-point cushion over joseph.sheu, with matt_lennon and I tied just a few points further behind.
The ultimate winner will probably be determined by the bonus points awarded to the tipsters who correctly predicted the overall winner of the Drivers’ and Constructors’ championships at the start of the season.
Correct guesses award 10, 6 and 4 bonus points (respectively) if the tipsters’ picks finish first, second, or third in the Drivers’ and Constructors’ standings each, meaning what anyone who picked Red Bull to take the Constructors’ championship has earned themselves a bonus 10 points.
So, with a maximum of 20 bonus points up for grabs on top of the usual maximum of 17 points available in the regular race weekend tipping, this means that those currently placed 1st through to 7th on the leaderboard can win the competition.
So let’s find out who’s got the best chance based on their pre-season guesses:
|Tipster||Drivers’ Champion Tip||Constructors’ Champion Tip|
|Julian::MUFC||Michael Schumacher||Mercedes GP|
|joseph.sheu||Michael Schumacher||Mercedes GP|
|Richard’s F1||Fernando Alonso||McLaren|
|bgalea||Michael Schumacher||Mercedes GP|
* Late starters in the competition, pre-season tip could not be entered
It would seem we’ve not done a good job of backing Red Bull Racing here!
I can also confirm that the prize awarded to the Tipping Competition winner will be a great Richard’s F1 prize pack, with a veritable host of goodies from us!
We will definitely continue with a newer, bigger and better Tipping Competition next season!
