Well, this wasn’t quite the plan! I’ve landed up winning the Tipping Competition by a single point!

Approaching the season finale in Abu Dhabi – and coincidentally mirroring the championship situation – a total of four tipsters had a mathematical chance of taking the spoils if they tipped cleverly for Abu Dhabi, let alone if they achieved any bonus points for correctly guessing the Drivers’ and Constructors’ championship winners based on their bets posted at the beginning of the season.

And just like Sebastian Vettel, I’ve snuck in from third place in the running to win, which is most unexpected! Here are the final results:

Rank (LW) Tipster Points
1. (3) Richard’s F1 141 image
2. (1) Julian::MUFC 140 image

5. (5) redvenom 109

8. (8) 321bosscat 94

13. (13) Flexi_Hunter 15

However, awarding a prize to myself is rather pointless, and the terms of the competition clearly stated that in the very unlikely event that I won – and this was definitely not part of the game plan! – that the first prize would be awarded to the runner-up.

It is only fair then to award the winner’s prize to Julian::MUFC – one of our very loyal fans from New Zealand – who has led the Tipping Competition from the get-go.

The entire competition – set up when the site was very much in its infancy – will make a return for the 2011 F1 season, bigger and better than ever. I offer my thanks to the regular combatants who submitted their tips at every round, and whose gentle sledging has made this little competition a special part of what has been a great F1 season.

Make sure you keep an eye out for next season’s Tipping Competition launch announcement in the coming months!
