F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has been quick to refute suggestions that the sport’s commercial rights are for sale after reports emerged that Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp empire was in talks with Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim about launching a joint bid to acquire control of F1.
Describing the story – which first floated on the Murdoch-owned Sky News – as “rubbish”, Ecclestone told the Telegraph Sport: “The sport is not for sale.”
