Top Gear: The Challenges, Vol 2
DVD, © 2008 BBC Worldwide, 282 minutes
Another review from the Richard’s F1 team this week, as we take a look at the second instalment in Top Gear’s ‘Challenges’ series, with this second volume looking at the best bits from the show’s tenth series.
Our favourite trio of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond take to the road, the skies and the sea in search of the toughest challenges to take driving to the very limit and beyond.
Some of the highlights include:
-
Amphibious Cars (Part II): The boys have another crack at building an amphibious car, and are this time presented with the task of crossing the English Channel…
-
Veyron vs EuroFighter: The world’s fastest roadgoing car against a 900mph RAF fighter jet. The challenge? A mile and back drag race. Place your bets…
-
London’s transport challenge: So which is the quickest way to get from one end of London to the other? The boys are joined by The Stig as they race each other by car, public transport, speedboat and by bicycle…
-
In search of the greatest driving road: The boys head to the Alps in search of Europe’s best driving road, all behind the wheels of some glorious supercars. Can they find motoring Mecca?
-
The BritCar 24 Hour Race: One of the toughest tests of driver skill, stamina and a car’s reliability awaits the Top Gear boys, who decide to enter a biodiesel-powered BMW 3-series in the race!
It’s typical top-shelf Top Gear stuff, and certainly a worthy addition to the DVD collection of any avid fan of the show.
And, for some even better news, the DVD contains plenty of extra features including extended interviews and the full onboard laps with Star in a Reasonably Priced Car guests Simon Cowell and Lewis Hamilton. Viewers will also get to enjoy an onboard Power Lap with The Stig in the fastest car to have taken to the show’s test track, and there are also profiles of the Lamborghini Gallardo and EuroFighter jet featured in this DVD.
Using our unique ‘Chequered Flags’ rating system, we award Top Gear: The Challenges, Vol 2…
OUT OF A POSSIBLE 5.
