With thanks to our friends from NBC Universal, we are thrilled to confirm that the award-winning SENNA documentary will be available for sale on DVD and BluRay from 8 December.
And Australian customers will be able to purchase a very limited Collector’s Edition version of this outstanding documentary…
Directed by BAFTA Award-winning filmmaker Asif Kapadia, and made with the full cooperation of the Senna family and Formula One Management, SENNA is the first official, feature-length documentary charting the three-time World Champion’s life and death.
Using a wealth of astounding archive footage (much of it previously unseen), the film looks into Senna’s Formula 1 career. It charts his physical and spiritual journey, both on-track and off; his quest for perfection and his ultimate transformation from a supremely gifted novice to a three-time World Champion, to a myth after his untimely death, aged 34, on one of the blackest weekends in Formula 1 history.
Hailed in Brazil as a saint and considered to be the greatest driver who has ever lived, SENNA uncovers not only the legend of the F1 driver, but also the humble, shy, and fiercely patriotic Ayrton Senna.
The film will be released in standard-definition DVD (RRP $29.95) and high-definition BluRay ($34.95) from 8 December.
The DVD version also contains filmmaker commentary with Kapadia, writer Manish Pandey and producer James Gay-Rees.
Fans who purchase the BluRay edition will not only have access to the filmmaker commentary, but also to a special ‘extended’ version of the documentary, which includes almost one hour of additional exclusive footage. This contains extended interviews with Ron Dennis, Alain Prost and others, gaining even further insights into Senna’s life and career. Other bonus footage includes Senna family home videos and a previously ‘lost’ interview between Senna and acclaimed F1 journalist Gerald Donaldson.
In a world exclusive to Australian buyers, SENNA will also be available for sale in a Triple Play Limited Collectors’ Edition ($44.95) with metal packaging, which will include the DVD, BluRay and Digital Copy editions of SENNA.
