Our friends from Top Gear have unleashed another Challenges bonanza crammed full of volcanoes, world speed records, flying caravans, toppling Reliant Robins, thrilling races and plenty of exploding cars.
Is there another programme out there that provides this much entertainment for such a tiny investment of your IQ, or – for that matter – your spare change?
We present Top Gear: The Challenges, Volume 5…
The two-disc DVD special features some of the best challenges undertaken by the intrepid Top Gear gang over the last three season, with some of our particular favourites including:
Cheap German Saloons: In a cut-price road trip across Europe’s motoring heartland, the trio perform a high-speed autobahn run, an Oompah Band test, and a terrifying encounter with Herr Stig;
A Hyperdrive Veyron: Because, well, it just can, Bugatti take the wraps off an even quicker Veyron to take back the mantle of the fastest production car in the world. ‘Captain Slow’ sets about breaking the 400km/h barrier and posting the new speed record.
Airport Vehicles Race: With the problem with many airports being that they’re just too slow (in Australia, it’s due to the baggage handlers always being on strike), Richard Hammond sets about organising a unique race where the contenders are all airport vehicles. Equip them with a bunch of crazy touring car drivers, and mayhem will ensue.
The second disc also features a host of extra features, which are well worth checking out:
The uncut Star In A Reasonably-Priced Car interview and onboard laps with actors Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise
The Stig’s Power Laps in the Bugatti Veyron, Ariel Atom V8 and Pagani Zonda R
Rubens Barrichello’s record-breaking hot lap in the venerable Suzuki Liana, entirely onboard
Onboard the Bugatti Veyron as former F1 driver Pierre-Henri Raphanel clocks over 430km/h to break the production car speed record
Lewis Hamilton samples Ayrton Senna’s 1988 McLaren MP4/4 at Silverstone
Using our unique ‘Chequered Flags’ rating system, we award Top Gear: The Challenges, Volume 5…
