The Circuit de Catalunya plays host to the second pre-season test session of the 2012 season

Formula 1 action gets underway today once again in Spain, with the circus travelling to Barcelona for the first of two four-day test sessions at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Teams will again be working to iron out any kinks in their respective packages, while also testing the latest round of development parts they will have come up with after the first pre-season test at Jerez earlier this month.

The Mercedes AMG team will also be giving its new W03 challenger its first public run, following separate shakedown tests at Silverstone and Barcelona.

While the line-up and schedules are subject to change, here’s who is confirmed as driving (and when) over the next four days:

Newly-signed Caterham driver Vitaly Petrov will get two days’ running in the team’s Renault-powered CT01 challenger, after the Russian’s recent signing to the team as Jarno Trulli’s replacement.

Marussia Racing makes its first pre-season test appearance with its 2011 car while it waits for its 2012 design to be assembled ahead of the final pre-season test in early March. The team’s new signing, France’s Charles Pic, will have three days in the car.

Local team HRT F1 won’t be present at Barcelona, electing to concentrate on finalising its 2012 challenger, which marginally failed two FIA crash tests. The team had hoped to debut its F112 car at this test, but the results of the FIA test have delayed in unveiling until at least the final pre-season test session.

As usual, RichardsF1.com will have a complete analysis and gallery of each day’s action, so make sure you keep visiting for the latest news and gossip from Spain.
