The Caterham F1 team has announced it has two new sponsors, with the VISA credit card network joining BRM Chronographs on the Hingham-based outfit’s ever-growing list of corporate partners.
VISA, in particular, is a major coup for the team. The company had previously had a very minor sponsorship arrangement with Minardi in the late 1990s, but it has largely remained out of the F1 limelight while rival company MasterCard had a significant involvement with the Jordan team during the same period.
VISA has now become Caterham’s ‘Hospitality and Experiential Marketing Partner’, which will see the two groups work together “on a series of innovative hospitality and marketing programmes”, the team’s media release reads.
“This is another major milestone for our team as it aligns us with one of the world’s most famous, trusted brands and gives us an opportunity to create some exciting new projects for our fans and Visa’s customers,” added Caterham team principal Tony Fernandes, “The growth of our commercial partnership portfolio reflects our development as a team on track and it is a sign of our increasing strength that we have been able to attract a brand as prestigious as Visa.”
Meanwhile, the team also has a new watch sponsor in the form of BRM Chronographs.
“We are delighted to welcome BRM Chronographs into the Caterham F1 Team family and are very proud to be sporting such a prestigious logo on our car from the first race of the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship,” said Caterham CEO Riad Asmat.
