At RichardsF1.com, we’re always on the lookout for aspiring and professional writers who would like to contribute to amazing tapestry of the almost 5,500 motorsport articles that we’ve published to-date, and we’re thrilled to welcome a new writer to our family: Ben Waterworth!
Ben will be writing a series of feature articles for RichardsF1.com over the course of the year, and we’re greatly looking forward to sharing his views with our many readers around the world.
“Since first seeing the majestic Formula 1 cars hurl around the streets of Adelaide as a young boy, I have been hooked on the greatest sport in the world,” he told RichardsF1.com
“Growing up as a Schumacher fan and a Ferrari fan, my perfect combination was realised in 1996 and since then I have become more and more obsessed with the sport every year. It was only natural that I then try and make a career out of it!
“As a local radio host here on Hobart’s community station Edge Radio since 2004, I put it to the management team about getting my own spin-off show based on Formula 1, and in 2009 The F1 Show was born. And while it has undergone a name change in recent times (thanks Bernie!), The Qualifying Lap – as it is now known – remains to this day Australia’s only dedicated radio show to the sport of Formula 1, a feat to which I’m extremely proud of!”
He adds: “Throughout the three-year history of the show I’ve interviewed World Champions in Michael Schumacher (greatest day of my life), Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso, as well as some of the sports biggest stars including Mark Webber, Christian Horner, Rubens Barrichello and Sir Jackie Stewart.
“It has been a dream gig, and one that continues to expand daily. As soon as I discovered RichardsF1.com, I straight away contacted him to see if I could become involved, and after a fantastic meeting at the 2012 Australian Grand Prix I am delighted to become part of this great website!”
So what is his writing style like?
“My views can be blunt, somewhat quizzical and sometimes controversial,” he tells us.
“But I hope I can bring an extra edge amongst the already established and amazing contributors that have made this site a one-stop shop for everything Formula 1 on the internet! I look forward to working on this site for many years to come, and comments are always appreciated, as long as they contain at least a few choice words about my opinions!”
He sounds like the perfect fit for RichardsF1.com and we’re thrilled to welcome Ben to the family!
