The 2012 RichardsF1.com F1 Predictions Competition is proving to be as closely-fought as this year’s actual World Championship title, and our field of entrants produced another assortment of tips for the Chinese Grand Prix…
A quick reminder of how points are calculated each round:
-
1 point for correctly guessing the driver who claims pole position
-
2 points for correctly guessing the race winner
-
1 point for correctly guessing each of the top-two finishing teams, with an additional point for correctly guessing the order in which each team finishes
-
1 point for correctly guessing each of the top-eight finishing drivers
-
a bonus 5 points if all of the above criteria are correctly guesses
-
entrants can also elect to double their points earned (including bonus points) for one round only over the course of the season.
Nico Rosberg’s red-hot run to his maiden Grand Prix win was hardly in the form guide, and so we had a closely-fought round with a spread of just four points covering the entire field!
A couple of brave souls elected to take use of their only ‘double up’ option this time around, and we’ll have to wait and see if this was the right decision…

New entrants who joined the competition during the Chinese Grand Prix were awarded a starting score of 11 points, that being the median points score of all entrants at the conclusion of the previous round, the Malaysian Grand Prix.
So after three rounds, our points leader is still splitpin, who elected to use his ‘double up’ option at very first round in Australia. But his gap is slowly being whittled away – will he be overtaken next weekend?
We also told you that we’d be offering our first in-season prize with this round, with the highest points’ earner (without having to use the ‘double up’ feature to get there) winning a copy of former F1 designer Ron Tauranac’s excellent biography, Brabham Ralt Honda. Congratulations to 321bosscat, who win’s this round’s prize, having been the only entrant to claim 8 points! Stay tuned for details of the next prize we’ll over during the season!
Entries for the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix will open in the coming days, and you will have until five minutes before qualifying starts to enter your predictions. You may edit your predictions as many times as you wish beforehand.
The competition is open to everyone, and if you missed the first three rounds and have not previously registered to play, you will be awarded an 17-point starting score (that being the current median score of all entrants above). If you’d like to register for the first time, click here.
