Mark Webber has unveiled the one-off helmet design he will race at this year’s Singapore Grand Prix next month.
With his patriotic red, white and blue helmet design having been a mainstay on the F1 grid for the last decade – in stark contrast to the ever-changing designs on offer from team-mate Sebastian Vettel – the Red Bull Racing driver recently asked fans to help design a new look for his appearance on the streets of Singapore.
Among the over 1,100 submitted entries he received, the winning design came courtesy of a seventeen-year-old Croatian fan, Zlatka Subotičanec.
“Zlatka’s design was full of energy and really caught my attention with the unique inclusion of the Australian flag into the colour scheme,” Webber is quoted as saying when the helmet design was unveiled.
“I’m also pretty impressed with the cartoon version of me on the back, although he has a few less wrinkles!”
As part of her reward for being selected as the winning designer, Subotičanec will get to attend the Singapore race to watch Webber compete in her winning helmet design, which you can view in close-up by clicking on below:
“After personally looking at all of the designs, I’m truly blown away by the number of people that have put in such a huge amount of effort in this promotion. We have had entries from all over the world, from young and old and from all types of artistic talents.
“It was amazing to see all of the designs that the fans came up with and I’m really thankful for their efforts.”
