Dario Franchitti and Ashley Judd have announced they will divorce... ...while Kimi Raikkonen and Jeni Dahlman have also reportedly split

Two famous motorsport marriages have fallen apart. Four-time IndyCar Series champion Dario Franchitti and his actress wife Ashley Judd have announced their divorce, while 2007 Formula 1 champion Kimi Räikkönen and his wife Jenni Dahlman have also reportedly split.

Franchitti and Judd have been one of motorsport’s most high-profile couples since they married in 2001. Despite her acting commitments, Judd has been a regular fixture at many of Franchitti’s races, and famously been on hand to witness each of the Scot’s three Indianapolis 500 wins decked out in her easy-to-spot wide-brimmed floppy hats.

Franchitti and JuddBut a jointly-issued statement to People magazine confirmed that even the strongest of marriages can come to an end.

"We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed," the statement read.

Judd was absent from Franchitti’s recent appearance at the Rolex Daytona 24 Hours, reportedly weighing up whether to pursue a political career in challenging for a seat in the United States Senate.

Meanwhile, the Finnish gossip magazines are reporting that Kimi Räikkönen and his wife of eight years, Jenni Dahlman, have also separated.

Raikkonen and DahlmanThe Finn married the former Miss Scandinavia in 2004, and according to the 7 Paivaa magazine, the pair have called time on their marriage.

"It’s true, they have grown in different directions," Räikkönen’s personal assistant, Ridu Kuvaja, who looks after the 2007 champion at Lotus, confirmed.

Finnish daily Ilta Sanomat reported that Ms Dahlman moved out of the pair’s €30 million home in Switzerland several weeks ago.

Should the pair formally petition for a divorce, Räikkönen may have to take a hit on his estimated €120 million fortune, which includes a host of properties.
