Just a fortnight ago, we saw how a collision between teammates could cost one of them their job, and now the World Touring Car Championship racers were at it once again in Marrakech…
This time is was the ROAL BMW pairing of Tom Coronel and Darryl O’Young who conspired to collide with each other in qualifying. Coronel completely missed his braking point and his his hapless teammate fair and square in the rear, firing the Hong Kong driver into the barriers.
Both drivers’ BMWs needed extensive overnight repairs, and a sheepish Coronel was extremely lucky to avoid a grid penalty from the FIA Stewards for this momentary brain fade…
“Shit happens,” a magnanimous O’Young wrote on his Twitter feed afterwards. “But at least @TomCoronel will buy me the dinners from now on until the end of the season!”
