Red Bull Racing and Lotus have scored new sponsors ahead of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
The former has arranged a one-race deal with Italian supermarket chain Simply, while the latter has a longer-term deal with Dubai property firm Emaar Properties.
While Red Bull Racing tends to run a handful of sponsors on long-term deals, it does also dabble in race-specific sponsorship, such as its once-a-year deal with the Singha beer brand at the Singapore Grand Prix.
This weekend’s deal will see Simply’s logos plasters on the front-wing endplates of the RB9, as well as the race suits worn by Mark Webber and world championship leader Sebastian Vettel.
This is the second time that Red Bull Racing has tied up with Simply – which has over 1,500 stores across the country – following the pair’s inaugural partnership at last year’s Italian Grand Prix.
Lotus’ deal with Emaar Properties will help fill the team’s dwindling coffers as concerns continue to bubble about the team’s long-term financial health.
Emaar Properties – whose buildings include the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa; the world’s tallest building – will have its branding on the cars piloted by Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean over the next two seasons.
“With this new partnership with the developer of such iconic projects, we are looking forward to some home support as we race in the UAE once again this year. We are also very excited to see how this partnership will further enhance Lotus F1 Team’s brand value,” Lotus F1 team principal Eric Boullier said.
