Format: DVD, 180 minutes
Some absolutely extraordinary racing played out across Australia and overseas as the 2013 V8 Supercars Championship was fought and ultimately won.
The series ushered in two new manufacturers and a brand new set of technical regulations, while it also tried new race formats and even made its first sojourn to the United States of America.
Through it all, Jamie Whincup claimed a record-equalling fifth championship title, winning eleven of the season’s 36 races.
While that might have seen like a dominant performance from the Red Bull Racing Australia driver, it was a thrilling season nonetheless: there were thirteen individual race-winners (including five first-timers), and some of the racing was as close as it could get.
Heading into the season finale at Sydney Olympic Park, a record four drivers – Whincup, his teammate Craig Lowndes, and the Ford Performance Racing pair of Mark Winterbottom and Will Davison – were in contention for title glory.
The 2013 V8 Supercars Season Highlights DVD celebrates the highs and lows of the season over three hours of excellent-produced, well-edited highlights, including the best on-track action from all fourteen individual rounds.
Particular highlights are some of the feature interviews and profile spot pieces ahead of many of the races – sometimes helping to shift the view’s focus away from the battle at the front of the field and give a picture of some of the more interesting stories of the season.
Another big tick was the inclusion of the complete final laps of each of the major endurance race events, which was great to relive the best of the action from Sandown, Bathurst and the Gold Coast.
This is a ‘must have’ addition to the collection of any V8 Supercars Championship fan.
