Sébastien Buemi and Nicolas Prost will headline the e.dams team’s driving line-up in the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship season.
The team, co-owned by four-time Formula 1 World Champion Alain Prost and Jean-Paul Driot, co-founder of the DAMS GP2 Series feeder team, made the announcement along with the news that the series’ enginer supplier, Renault, will be the team’s title sponsor.
Buemi and Prost are the latest drivers with Formula 1 associations to sign on for the all-electric world championship, with the duo serving as the official reserve drivers for Red Bull Racing and the Lotus F1 Team, respectively.
Buemi also races full-time in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Toyota, claiming a podium finish in last month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. Prost, meanwhile, races in the WEC with Rebellion Racing.
The announcement now means just six of the twenty available seats in the upcoming season remain unconfirmed, with TrulliGP owner/driver Jarno Trulli also announcing his teammate will be 27-year-old Italian racer Michela Cerruti, who will become the second female racing driver in the championship (the other is Amlin Aguri driver Katherine Legge). Cerruti is contesting her second season in the Auto GP World Series, following two years spent in the Italian Superstars touring car series.
