Valtteri Bottas has topped final practice at Spa ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Rosberg, in what was an a rather uneventful practice session.

A wet track at the start of FP3 saw a mix of intermediate and wet tyre as drivers went for their installation lap.

Andre Lotterer was the only driver to remain on the circuit, acclimatising to the wet conditions in case the heavens open up again later on.

News emerging from the Red Bull camp was that the team played their gearbox joker for the year, meaning that they have changed their gear ratios which will now remain locked for the rest of the year.

Each team receives one joker a year to change their gear ratios and so far McLaren are the only other team to have done so, changing their nominated gear ratios during the German Grand Prix weekend.

As well as the change to their gearbox, both Red Bull drivers have opted to run a low downforce package for the rest of the weekend, which will see them struggle through the second sector of the seven-kilometre circuit.

After more than half of the session with only Jules Bianchi, Max Chilton and Lotterer posting a timed lap, Esteban Gutierrez broke the drought and took to the circuit on a set of medium tyres.

The rest of the field soon followed, attempting to get as many dry laps in as possible.

Mercedes pair Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton were evenly matched, at one point only a thousandth of a second separated the two.

Kimi Raikkonen improved on his performance from FP2 yesterday, ending the final practice session in fourth place, two places ahead of team-mate Fernando Alonso.

Sebastian Vettel failed to make an impact in FP3, as debris in his brake ducts interrupted the last few minutes of his session. He still managed to complete 10 laps.
