Shane Van Gisbergen has cruised to another victory at Sydney Motorsport Park, making it two wins from two at Eastern Creek.

The Kiwi made a great start and was back in the lead on the first lap, passing the pair of Scott McLaughlin and Jamie Whincup.

Both drivers were in a battle to maintain position, until McLaughlin lost one of his rear wheels forcing him to retire and deploying the safety car.

The carnage continued on lap 2 with Robert Dahlgren slamming his S60 into the wall, leaving Volvo Polestar shaking their heads. Jamie Whincup lost 2 positions after a slight mistake, enabling Fabian Coulthard and James Moffat to move up. Meanwhile, Van Gisbergen moved out to a dominating 6.2-second lead on a very wet track.

With 10 laps completed it was still Van Gisbergen out in front, followed by Jamie Whincup, Coulthard, Chaz Mostert and Jason Bright completing the top 5.

Scott Pye went off track at Turn Six causing another safety car. Following the restart Chaz Mostert was able to snatch second from Whincup and, putting him in contention for the race win. Todd Kelly was forced off the track by Tander who had broken the front end of his HRT VF on Turn Two.

Another time certain race saw only 24 from 26 laps completed, where Van Gisbergen asserted his dominance in the rain, finishing ahead of Chaz Mostert and Jamie Whincup.
