Heading into the Singapore Grand Prix with high hopes if a points scoring finish, Sauber left Marina Bay with a double DNF as both Esteban Gutierrez and Adrian Sutil suffered mechanical problems to end their races.

Gutierrez was visibly upset when he was forced to retire the car on lap 17, hopping out and immediately throwing his gloves on the shelves in disgust.

““There is not much to say about the race. At the moment it is almost impossible to achieve good results,” he said.

“We have to extract 120 percent from what we have, but with these issues we are having it makes things complicated. There is nothing that I can do to guard against these problems at the moment.”

” We have to look forward to the next races and need to take every chance that we get. Keep fighting will be the most important objective for us as a team at the moment.”

Sauber is currently enduring their worst season in Formula 1, sitting in 10th position in the Constructors’ standings.
