World Champion squad Mercedes will present its 2015 Formula 1 challenger at the Circuito de Jerez on February 1, just before pre-season testing gets underway, it has been announced. Live coverage will be available via the team’s social media channels.

Nico Rosberg will put the F1 W06 Hybrid through its paces first and will return behind the wheel on Day 3 of the test, while Lewis Hamilton will drive on the second and fourth day of the first of three four-day pre-season tests.

“The workload this winter has been great as ever,” said Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff.

“Where last year we were preparing for an all-new formula of racing, we are now faced with the big challenge of making the next step in our development. We know that we went into the winter with a target on our backs for the other teams – and we are certain that our rivals will be competitive from the opening race in Melbourne. So we have to focus on every detail if we want to build any advantage this year and that is what we have done.

“This is an exciting time of year as our collective efforts all come together in the new car. Everybody in Brackley, Brixworth and Stuttgart has put a great amount of effort into creating the latest Silver Arrow and I thank them for their efforts so far. We are excited to see how the car performs when it begins running.”

It has been reported Mercedes will start the season with its power unit unchanged from 2014, however Italy’s Omnicorse insists those reports are untrue.

They claim that Mercedes will run 2015 configuration of the power unit, and it will be “significantly different” this year. The report claims the new power unit will include a new Bosch injection system capable of turbo pressure to the regulations-maximum of 500 bar. The 2014 turbo was reportedly limited to little more than half that figure.
