DJR Team Penske has unveiled the first of a number of livery schemes it will run over the course of the 2015 V8 Supercars Championship season.
For next weekend’s season-opening Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, the outfit will run in the colours of long-time sponsor, Shell, on Marcos Ambrose’s #17 Falcon FG X.
“It is a great honour to be representing Shell Helix and DJR Team Penske at our first race meeting this year in Adelaide. Dick and Roger both have incredible history with Shell and it is great to see the brand back in force on our Ford Falcon FG X,” Ambrose, the two-time former champion and series returnee, said.
Having run Ambrose as an xBox-sponsored wildcard entry during last year’s curtain-closer round at Sydney Olympic Park, the Gold Coast-based team has confirmed it will run a variety of colour schemes over the course of the 2015 season. The striking Shell livery will be run at the Clipsal 500 and Townsville 400 street circuit rounds, while the team’s other sponsors are expected to feature more predominantly at other events.
Shell has been a long-time sponsor of team co-owner Dick Johnson, with the partnership dating all the way back to 1987 when he was an owner/driver.
“To see the #17 Ford Falcon in full Shell Helix livery once again is very special. I can assure you it brings back great memories and Marcos is the right guy to carry on this long partnership,” Johnson added.
