Mark Winterbottom has made it two race wins in as many races at Albert Park for the Australian Grand Prix, with his team-mate Chaz Mostert following closely behind in second for Prodrive racing.

Winterbottom didn’t put a foot wrong as he led the field throughout the shortened nine lap race, recording the fastest lap of the race on lap seven.

Shane Van Gisbergen finished third for Team Darrel Lea STIX after passing James Courtney early in the race.

Like Race One, the safety car was brought out on the opening lap as Dale Wood received contact from Scott McLaughlin at Turn Six, spinning his VF Commodore into the wall.

Jamie Whincup gained a few more positions throughout the race after a disappointing qualifying session yesterday; he finished the race in fifth position. His team-mate Craig Lowndes dropped a position to Garth Tander and finished 10th.

Ash Walsh suffered his second setback for the weekend as the repair from his tangle with Marcus Ambrose and Tim Blanchard came undone, causing him to be shown a black mechanical flag. He pitted on the fifth lap and ended the race in 24th position.

Rick Kelly made another top 10 appearance in the Nissan Altima, improving his result from the last race by two positions to finish sixth.

Race three will start at 3.20pm Saturday the 14th of March.
