IndyCar Series driver Sébastien Bourdais will make a return to the V8 Supercars Championship as a co-driver to Lee Holdsworth in the Pirtek Enduro Cup rounds this year.
The Frenchman has enjoyed an outstanding record during his occasional stints ‘Down Under’, claiming two wins and a further two podium finishes as a co-driver during three outings at the Gold Coast 600 between 2010-2012 when the event stipulated an ‘international driver’ had to be used.
The 36-year-old will expand his V8 Supercar driving duties to all three Pirtek Enduro Cup rounds – the Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 600 – as a co-driver to Walkinshaw Racing’s Lee Holdsworth.
“After the great successes I enjoyed with Holden in 2011 and 2012, it is great to come back to V8 Supercars,” Bourdais, who drives full-time in the IndyCar Series for KV Racing Technology, said.
“Thanks to Charlie Schwerkolt and Walkinshaw Racing, I will check off my bucket list races I have been wanting to compete in for a while. I am really excited and looking forward to discover Sandown and Bathurst, and to return to Surfers [Paradise] in Lee’s car.
“He is a great guy, a terrific driver and I wish him and the team all the best for the season until I get the chance to share his car.”
