The Super Black Racing team might have to consider a change of name for this weekend’s UBET Perth SuperSprint V8 Supercars Championship round at Barbagallo Raceway.
The rookie New Zealand team has taken the covers off a striking black and pink colour scheme on Andre Heimgartner’s #111 Ford Falcon FGX to promote the involvement of OnlyDomains.com, which will carry its colours at the West Australian round and the following event at Winton Raceway.
“We are very excited with our Super Black partnership, not only are we getting the whole package from full car livery, team uniforms, on track activations for staff, customers, suppliers et cetera,” OnlyDomains CEO Desleigh Jameson said of his company’s sponsorship of the team.
Jameson has a close association with Super Black Racing owner Tony Lentino, whose own wealth hails from an extensive internet marketing portfolio.
The striking new temporary look comes off the back of an outstanding debut of the Falcon FG X for rookie driver Heimgartner; the teenager twice qualified inside the top-ten and finishing Sunday’s feature 200-kilometre race in eighth place.
The New Zealander has enjoyed success in Perth, winning the second V8 Supercars Dunlop Series race last year en route to finishing third overall for the round.
Nissan Motorsport’s James Moffat will also enjoy new backing at this weekend’s hit-out in Perth; his #99 Nissan Altima will carry the signage of electronics giant Toshiba on its doors and front guards.
Moffat unveiled the revised livery at a media event on Perth’s southern foreshore.
“It’s great to have the support of Toshiba during this next phase of the V8 Supercars Championship,” Moffat said.
“Toshiba has been a long-time backer of myself and Nissan Motorsport so to be able to take them to the next level is something that I’m really proud of.
“We kick this new deal off at Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway, and it’s a circuit that I really enjoy. It definitely comes with its own unique challenges, and we know how tough the competition is, but we’ll certainly be giving it our best shot.”
Also running with a new colour scheme is the DJR Team Penske Ford Falcon FG X of Scott Pye, which will run its third different livery of the season.
The #17 entry will sport the red and blue colours of the Penske-affiliated company, MTU, a manufacturer of diesel engines and propulsion systems used predominantly in the mining and marine industries.
“DJR Team Penske is proud to highlight several partners with primary sponsorship of the No. 17 Ford Falcon in 2015, and we are delighted to showcase MTU in Perth,” said DJR Team Penske Managing Director, Ryan Story.
“This is an important part of the team’s marketing strategy as we welcome a Penske affiliate company for the first time as a primary sponsor. Scott Pye will continue the driving duties in Perth and we are looking forward to hosting many MTU guests to the garage over the weekend.”
