Nissan Motorsport drivers Michael Caruso and Todd Kelly will sport revamped liveries ahead of the team’s ‘home’ round of the V8 Supercars Championship at Winton Raceway this weekend.
Ahead of the Japanese carmaker’s highly anticipated return to the LMP1 category at next month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, Caruso’s #23 Altima will sport an LMP1-inspired colour scheme as part of a promotion of Nissan’s new Navara 4×4 which goes on sale.
The striking red and black livery is a clear nod to Nissan’s new-for-2015 GT-R Nismo LMP1 car, which makes its race debut at La Sarthe.
Continuing Nissan’s run of rotating sponsorship deals, team owner/driver Todd Kelly will also have new backing on his #7 entry thanks to caravan firm Jayco.
Without a permanent primary sponsor this year, the 35-year-old has had one of his more impressive starts to a season in a number of years, and is currently placed thirteenth in the Drivers’ Championship standings.
“Our team works very hard on bringing great new sponsors into Supercars as our sport continues to grow, and this is another great example of that,” Kelly said.
“It’s also exciting for me to debut the new colours at our home event at Winton. It’s a track that has been kind to us in the past and we’re hoping we can continue our push forward there.”
Nissan will also take on naming rights sponsorship of this weekend’s championship round, which has been renamed the NP300 Navara Winton Super Sprint.
