The GP2 Series continues at Silverstone this weekend, where championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne holds a 76 point lead over nearest place Alexander Rossi. The McLaren protégé has been so consistent this season; he has appeared on every podium except the Monaco Sprint Race podium.

After a horror qualifying result, Rossi had to battle his way through the field which saw him continue his streak of scoring points in every race, finishing sixth in the Feature Race and eighth in the Sprint Race.

Rio Haryanto is back in the championship picture sitting third, just nine points behind Rossi. The Campos Racing driver was well clear of the points in Monaco, but returned to form in Austria holding off Vandoorne for the Sprint Race victory.

With warm conditions expected this weekend, focus again will be on tyre strategy as the high speed corners like Maggots and Becketts will place stress on both the tyre structure and compound. Although, with Silverstone’s record of rain during race weekends there is still a good chance we will see the wet compound tyres.

There will be four driver changes this weekend with Sergio Canamasas moving from MP Motorsport to replace Zoël Amberg at Daiko Team Lazarus. Jon Lancaster returns to the series with Hilmer Motorsport, Johnny Cecotto Jr will replace Marco Sørensen at Carlin, while Oliver Rowland will make his GP2 Series debut at his home race with MP Motorsport. Rowland is currently the championship leader in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
