The Penrite Oil Company will continue as the title sponsor for Will Davison’s Erebus Motorsport Mercedes for the remainder of the 2015 V8 Supercars Championship season, the team has confirmed.
The Melbourne-based petroleum company made its sponsorship debut on Davison’s #9 E63 AMG Mercedes at the SuperCheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in what was originally a one-race deal with its striking black, red and gold colours.
In a major boost for the privateer outfit, the company has now elected to remain on board for the remaining rounds at the Gold Coast, Pukekohe, Phillip Island and Sydney Olympic Park.
“It’s fantastic to have Penrite’s continued support for the rest of the year,” said team owner Betty Klimenko.
“We had such great feedback on the new Penrite partnership and livery both before, during and after Bathurst. It’s exciting to have a proud Australian owned company that wants to grow with us for the remainder of the year.”
The lead-up to the Bathurst 1000 marked a major milestone for the team, which has so far struggled to attract and retain big-name sponsors in its three seasons in the V8 Supercars Championship.
Along with the Penrite deal, the team also secured a kick-off sponsorship deal with the Wendy’s ice cream retail group on the sister #4 entry piloted by Ash Walsh. The company’s striking pink colours will feature on the rookie’s car for every remaining round except Pukekohe.
Both companies’ sponsorship deals mark the first time that Erebus Motorsport has run both of its cars in full sponsor-dedicated liveries since the end of its maiden season of V8 Supercars racing in 2013.
