Prodrive Racing has revealed a DeLorean-style Back To The Future look for its #6 Ford Falcon FG X to be run at this weekend’s Castrol Gold Coast 600 endurance round by Cameron Waters and Russell Ingall.
The unveiling comes on the very date that Michael J Fox’s character Marty McFly travelled through time to visit in the film franchise’s second installment. It coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of the re-release of the original film, and like the movie, the team also enjoys commercial backing from the Pepsi drinks group.
The Gold Coast event will see the #6 car painted in the iconic stainless steel colours of the DeLorean, while ‘Pepsi Perfect’ logos will adorn the car in deference to the futuristic soft drink that McFly ordered in the second movie.
For today’s promotional photoshoot, the car – a display version of the race-going vehicle Waters and Ingall will pilot – was fitted will DeLorean-style gullwing doors, a replica onboard ‘flux capacitor’ and hand-built ‘thrusters’.

The reliveried car was even modified to feature DeLorean-style gull-wing doors.
“This is without doubt one of the best activations I’ve seen in nearly 30 years in the motorsport industry,” Prodrive Racing Australia’s team principal, Tim Edwards, said.
“The lengths the entire team have gone to in order to prepare the car are just fantastic.”
The biggest challenge the team’s mechanics and engineers faced was modifying the car’s doors to replicate those of the DeLorean.
The Castrol Gold Coast 600 – the final round of the Pirtek Enduro Cup leg of the championship – will take place on October 23-25.
