McLaren will field Jenson Button and reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne in the post-Spanish GP test in Barcelona next week.

Vandoorne, who replaced the injured Fernando Alonso at the Bahrain Grand Prix, will drive the MP4-31 on Wednesday, taking over from Button’s testing duties on Tuesday.

The Belgian is combining his testing duties with a full-time season in Super Formula in Japan, where he finished third on debut and sits third in the championship.

Teams are required to field at least one junior driver in the in-season tests. With Vandoorne getting chosen alongside Button, Fernando Alonso and development driver Nobuharu Matsushita will miss out.

Barcelona is the first of two in-season tests, with the second scheduled for Silverstone after the British Grand Prix.
