Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel says he was caught out by an issue with his brake bias which caused him to spin out of the second practice session.

With only two minutes left to run, Vettel lost the rear of his Ferrari upon entry to Turn two and was sent into a spin where he became beached in the gravel and brought out the virtual safety car.

“We had an issue with the brake distribution,” Vettel said after practice.

“It caught me by surprise, but it didn’t matter too much and fortunately nothing happened. I lost a couple of minutes, so it didn’t make a big difference.”

Vettel finished the session in fourth position, six-tenths of a second off Rosberg’s pace, but is unsure of where the Ferrari will be on Sunday as rain interrupted half of the second practice session, leaving teams with limited race simulation running.

When asked whether a win was on the cards for Ferrari, Vettel replied: “Always. I think every race is an opportunity.”

“It was a decent day, but I’m not entirely clear where we are because we didn’t get much running, in the afternoon in particular, but overall it should be okay.”

Teammate Kimi Raikkonen finished further down the order in eighth position.
