Nico Rosberg has held onto his pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix after the Stewards investigated whether or not the German sufficiently slowed down under yellow flags in qualifying.
Mercedes and Rosberg provided satisfactory evidence in the eyes of the Stewards that the championship leader backed off enough during his pole lap when he went through the yellow flagged section caused by Fernando Alonso’s spin.
Although Rosberg’s teammate Lewis Hamilton questioned how much a driver had to lift off during yellow flags after the qualifying session had ended, the Stewards were satisfied that Rosberg had lifted off enough during the yellow-flagged period.
The Stewards decision read: “The telemetry demonstrated that the driver reduced speed significantly into Turn 8”
