Having missed part of the second practice session for the German Grand Prix, Jenson Button has made a visit to the hospital for a precautionary check on his eye.

The McLaren driver complained of an irritation in his eye during FP2 which interrupted his session.

After the issue persisted, Button decided to visit Mannheim hospital as a precaution.

“Jenson complained of an eye irritation during FP2, and has gone to Mannheim hospital to have a precautionary check-up,” McLaren said after the second practice session.

Should the Briton need to miss the rest of the weekend, reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne is in attendance and would be able to step in if required, having already made an appearance in place of an injured Fernando Alonso in Bahrain.
