Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has incurred another 15-place grid penalty, after the team confirmed during the second practice session that a second MGU-H and turbocharger was used.
The reasoning behind Mercedes giving Hamilton additional systems is now Hamilton has two power units to last him the rest of the season without getting another grid penalty.
By piling on the penalties at the one race, the worst position the reigning world champion can start from is last place, as the FIA abolished the rule that a driver had to complete a drive-through penalty if he wasn’t able to fulfil the penalty received for a breach of rules.
