Liberty Media has once again drawn another exciting card from their hand, this week announcing the launch of the Formula 1 Pirelli Hot Laps programme.
A series of hot laps for celebrities, guests and lucky spectators will take place at 10 Grands Prix over the course of the 2018 season in cars provided so far by McLaren and Aston Martin on the P-Zero branded Pirelli tyres. As of today, the Bahrain Grand Prix and nine other yet to be confirmed events will host the hot lap sessions.
Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen and a range of professional drivers are confirmed to be Aston Martin’s drivers for the events in their 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 Vantage (pictured above).
Drivers of McLaren’s supplied 720S supercar could consist of McLaren reserve and test driver Lando Norris, McLaren ambassador Mika Häkkinen or even the team’s powerhouse drivers Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne.
“The Formula 1 Pirelli Hot Laps programme represents a new opportunity to allow Formula 1 fans to get closer to a real track experience,” Sean Bratches, Managing Director of Commercial Operations in F1, said on Wednesday.
“The once in a lifetime experience of being driven at speed by a racing driver at iconic race circuits in dream cars is truly unique. This also is a demonstration of our capabilities to provide more value to valued partners like Pirelli and the Formula 1 teams.”
More manufacturer participants are also due to be announced in the next few weeks, along with the remaining nine host circuits.
