Daniel Ricciardo is one of Formula 1’s most exciting talents and Australia’s best shot at becoming its first Formula 1 World Champion since Alan Jones almost forty years ago.
The Perth-born driver has cemented his reputation as one of F1’s true all-rounders: he’s blindingly quick over one lap, dynamic in the rain, and an all-out racer capable of delivering thrilling overtaking moves that simply frighten his rivals out of his way.
Having given himself the ‘Honey Badger’ nickname as a joke to a Japanese journalist, the title has now stuck. He is one of the most personable and popular drivers on the grid, almost permanently creased with an infectrious grin that has delighted fans worldwide.
Written by ESPN journalist Nate Saunders, In Pursuit of Greatness is the first in-depth title published about Ricciardo. At over 200 pages, it’s a detailed race-by-race account of Ricciardo’s stints with Scuderia Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing, covering the highs, the lows, the controversies and the triumphs.
The book’s pre-2012 focus – which would capture his path to F1 and his stint with the struggling HRT F1 team – is sadly all too brief, but hopefully future books will cover his early years in more depth.
Supported by over 150 stunning photographs from the Getty Images library, this is an excellent record to-date of Ricciardo’s ride to the top of the mountain – the summit is surely in sight.
