Formula 1’s official podcast Beyond the Grid is the perfect time filler while you wait for the F1 action to return in Belgium at the end of August.

Hosted by long-time Formula 1 personality Tom Clarkson, he sits down with big Formula 1 names both past and present and looks ‘Beyond the Grid’ exploring how his guests live outside of Formula 1, their take on the sport and – as Tom describes it – what really makes them tick.

So far, Clarkson has sat down with top drivers in Lewis Hamilton and Esteban Ocon and caught up with old-timers in the form of Mark Webber and former racer, turned TV pundit, Martin Brundle.

He even sat down with Robert Kubica who revealed himself during his hour-long interview he was set to sign with Ferrari for the 2012 season before his near-fatal rally accident – boy, how that would have shaken up the season!

The interviews are unedited and sometimes explicit depending on the guest, but Tom asks the really deep questions, away from the current Formula 1 spotlight.

The whole purpose of the series is to give fans an insight into how Formula 1’s history makers live and breathe behind the scenes from what we see on television, and it’s a fantastic idea based off Liberty Media’s plan to bring fans closer to the sport.

New episodes are released weekly, all approximately an hour long, and a perfect way to pass time during the month-long summer break.

You can listen to these episodes on any mainstream podcast service including Apple Music, Google Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube.
