Formula 1 teams have dismissed calls for a joint 2019 car launch event, defying hopes of Liberty Media, the sport’s owners, to host one “big joint launch event” to maximise media exposure.
“The teams rejected the proposal because they did not want to share attention with the competition,” reports Auto Motor und Sport.
As it currently stands, the Haas F1 Team – which will have new title sponsorship from the little-known Rich Energy drinks consortium – is scheduled to kick-off proceedings when they unveil their new car today.
Scuderia Toro Rosso will follow with an online reveal of its STR14 on February 11, followed by Renault on February 12 which will be displaying the R.S.19 at an event at its Enstone base.
Racing Point will premiere their new identity – and new livery – in owner Lawrence Stroll’s native Canada in Toronto on February 13. Reigning champions Mercedes AMG Petronas and frontrunners Red Bull Racing will also take the wraps off their respective cars on the same date.
McLaren will celebrate Valentine’s Day in style, showcasing the MCL34 at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking.
The ‘Prancing Horse’ will bolt from the stable in Maranello on February 15 for the Ferrari launch, while the newly renamed Alfa Romeo Racing (formerly Sauber) will be a last-minute pit lane reveal one hour before pre-season testing begins in Spain on February 18.
Williams is the sole team yet to announce its official launch date.
