The Venturi team will run an unchanged driving line-up of Felipe Massa and edoardo Mortara for the 2019/20 FIA Formula E Championship season.
The team has also announced it will operate as a customer of Mercedes-Benz, running the same technology that will power the carmaker’s Silver Arrows 01 challenger that will make its series debut.
Venturi previously had a technical partnership with Mercedes-affiliate HWA for powertrain supply last season.
The team finished eighth in the Teams Championship standings in 2018/19, with Mortara claiming victory at the Hong Kong ePrix along with a further podium finish. Teammate and Formula E newcomer Massa took a while to find his feet, peaking with his first podium finish at Venturi’s home race in Monte Carlo.
Team Principal Susie Wolff, wife of Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport Formula One Team CEO Toto Wolff, explained that an alignment with Mercedes-Benz was a logical step for the Monaco-based team in order for it to remain competitive against bigger manufacturer-backed entries.
“This development marks a significant step forward for the team and, with my longstanding relationship with Mercedes-Benz, I feel very confident that we will enjoy a strong working partnership with our new powertrain suppliers,” said Wolff.
“We made good progress in Season 5 but our plans for Season 6 are even more ambitious and we are doing everything within our power to make sure that we are as competitive as possible before we head to Saudi for the season opener.”
